According to an Iranian oil official quoted by Reuters, "Iran will not rule out using oil as a weapon if the United States resorts to military action against the Islamic Republic over its nuclear program."
Okay. So we reserve the right to convert Ahmadinejad's little tin-pot dictatorship into a parking lot, and in return he might jack up the cost of filling my Subaru.
Of course, Iran has its own oil problem... they don't have much refining capacity, so despite being OPEC's #2 oil producer, they have to import most of their refined fuels. Um... make that ALL of their refined fuel, once we smoke the one refinery they have. Assuming we're unable to read a newspaper and cut that supply line as well.
Not to worry, though, says Hossein Kazempour, Iran's OPEC governor. "If anybody makes a threat about not giving gasoline he should know he will not be successful because the main producers of gasoline are members of OPEC and we will never have difficulties in regards to gasoline."
Because, having witnessed the obliteration of Iran, the very last concern of the remaining OPEC nations might be their own safety.
But this is all a moot point, since Kazempour is also careful to add that ""we [the bad guys] believe energy supplies should be de-politicized as much as possible."
Echo answereth not.
